Aerospace engineering is the field of engineering that concerns the research and development, design, manufacture, integration, testing and maintenance of air and space craft and their systems and components. A key aim of aerospace engineering is to ensure the airworthiness of aircraft in accordance with regulatory requirements. Airworthiness is a measure of the suitability of aircraft for safe flight.

Key disciplines within aerospace engineering include aerodynamics, systems, interiors, propulsion, avionics, materials science, structures, manufacturing, flight performance, maintenance and repair. The interaction between the associated technologies and disciplines is known collectively as aerospace engineering.

Aerospace engineers in Singapore are usually involved in the design, test, and manufacture of aircraft components, engines, and the maintenance whole aircraft as well as aircraft systems and components. Aerospace engineers are also involved in development of new technologies for use in aviation, space and defence systems.
